HondaJet to be based in South Carolina
HondaJet World Headquarters will be in South Carolina.
Honda will open its 17th major manufacturing plant in North America in Greensboro, N.C. -- a $100 million investment for Honda Aircraft Co. to build its new executive jet. The company will soon begin producing aircraft for delivery in 2010. The construction of 215,000 square foot headquarters building will be adjacent to its production facilities.
The project is expected to create 283 jobs with an average salary of $70,000 the next five years, according to the office of North Carolina Gov. Mike Easley. The pay is twice the area's average wage.
The HondaJet, which will cost $3.65 million, will have a cruising speed of 450 mph and room for up to eight people. More than 100 have already been ordered
